Mighty Masked Contrabass (Sample Set Download)

I was browsing Reddit a few months ago and came across this YouTube video of a mad Italian fellow who plays a pocket trumpet with a contrabass reed instead of a regular mouthpiece. (See below.) Spectacular and beautifully weird, don’t you think? Well, I got in touch with this masked wobble bass crusader (Piero Bittolo Bon) and asked him if he’d be up for sending me a high quality recording of this shenanigan. He did!

Today I finally got around to cutting up those samples and turning them into a set of 24-bit 44.1Khz WAV samples and loops for your enjoyment. For those of you who use Logic, I’ve also included a multi-sampled EXS24 instrument that’s mapped some fun filters and wobble on the pitch and mod wheels. Thanks to Chris Houston who put together at Kontakt 5 monolith (.nki) for these sounds as well. Enjoy!
