|
|
I just recently tried side chain compressing my kicks with the bassline and the results are awesome. The problem is, i like battery 3 and use it a lot. Now I can't seem to figure out how to side chain my compressor to listen only to a kick sample from my battery 3. At the moment, I compress the bass, and have it listen to the entire drum kit. So somehow I need to send the kick I want to listen the compressor to, trough a individual channel, so that my compressor will only trigger when the kick plays. the rest of the drumkit should be send trough different channels.
The problem is, I can't find a way in battery to send 1 or a few sounds/cells trough a different channel then the rest of my drumkit.
could someone help me out with this one please? |

make a duplicate of your battery channel, copy all midi regions to new channel, delete all midi data on new channel except kick drum, route signal of new channel to the bus channel you selected to side chain compressor. set the signal flow to bus of new channel on 'pre' so you can cut the volume of new channel but the signal still reacts with the compressor. this way you don't have 2 kick signals.
ta-daaa!
hope this helps- i'm still a novice so let me know if i'm off about anything |

You don't like the built-in compressor in Battery 3? I admit it's a bit limited and not very warm. But it does compress quite well.
It would be amazing if Battery allow access to FX plug-ins from within it's own audio DSP area. |

| what about routing the kick drum to an individual output and using that output to trigger the sidechain? battery 3 is a multi out plug in. |
