Let's talk samples. Computers in general, let alone music, are mega-time hogs. But if you have a decent DAW and few good sound sources, I can show you some ways to make some killer sound effects.

XML 4000 microphone has a long story behind it but the bottom line is that it is a 2000 dollar microphone selling for 199. It even includes a 200 dollar pencil microphone that I absolutely love. Go to MusiciansFriend.com and see for yourself. There is absolutely no negative feedback. Real fast, the microphone division has changed hands and the 4000 is overstocked and being discontinued. The company needs to show a loss on their balance sheet and since the 4000s were built before the new company took hold of the pink slip, the 4000 is actually being sold at the "Manufacturers Cost". Highly doubtful you'll ever get another chance.

Myself, I need a good way to take a series of samples and to either create a solid bank of SoundFonts or software that will allow me to assign samples to keys, yes, I need a sampler. Problem here is that I just bought a microphone and don't really have any money left.

If anybody know's how I might accomplish this for little to nothing, I may consider giving you my firstborn.

Now please, take a few minutes and point me to a (free?) sampler or good SoundFont compiler. You could be saving someone's life!

Hey there dude that microphone sounds like a deal not to be missed!
Shame I have literally no money, I like my Shure SM57 mic its a really good all rounder.

If your after a free sampler you should try all the freeware vst sites there is sure to be something there.

I personally use torrents to get expensive software for free; the way I see it is if i'm not yet making any money then it shouldn't be a problem to "test" the software otherewise we would never get anywhere at all!

Download Utorrent then go to the piratebay.org and search for directwave vst its made by the same people as fruity loops (btw i prefer logic of course) and is really easy to load in your own recorded samples

hope this helps

Sounds like you and I have much in common. I have been using 57s, and 58s for many a year now. Did you know that 57s and 58s are the exact same mic? They are simplly packaged slightly dif from each other. I found Sample Tank (IK) which does an excelent job using wavs on Pirate Bay last week! I use BitTorrent. I have an excelent emsemble of amplitubes (6 in all) which all interact once the last one is intalled, if you are a guitar player. Let me know, Best Regaurds, D.

as far as condencer mics go, there reely nice, but for my "evil' endeavores, I need somthing a little more discreet. My weapon of choice is my Tascam DR07 portable handheds recorder, it may not be the most technologicaly advenced peice out ther, but, it gets the job done. I mainly use this for field and sound effects, and somtimes when Im lazy I sample sounds off the tube. these portable recoarders are very usefull for if you want to record your argument with your girl/boy friend or that unpredictable moment at the bar where two guy's start an argument and a fight breaks out. or at work during your monthly prep meeting where your boss blathers on about stocks and profit-sharing. all of these make for some great samples.
