Excuse me but i couldn't find a right place for this topic... there is no forum thread for suggestions on how to improve this place's functionality, so i've started this here...
Anyway: i love sampleswap, i find it to be a great resource and i also donated 15 bucks - just to assure you i love this.
But i think the usability of the site is far from perfect. For example, browsing through the list of clips is very annoying: the text is very small and the page subdivision is very crippled with those form buttons... also it would be a nice idea to let the registered users choose the number of files per page for example. And sometimes the content doesn't really fit in the category...
Another idea would be to set a normalization rule for uploading samples: for example i've downloaded some loops that were not even loopable by default (i had to edit them and cut initial silence etc) or some clips have strange names that just don't help. I know it's a hard job but i think everybody would benefit from this.
Also, Drum Kits should be one single ZIP file, and should contain a demo loop so one can have a clue on how the kit sounds. If the zip is not a good idea, at least let the user click on a "download all clips for the kit" button... Otherwise downloading kits is really frustrating, believe me.
And what about a search function?
Question is, who could do this? and how? Well i don't know, but i think it would definitely be a great idea to at least set up a suggestions forum so that the community could help in improving this place!
Hope my critics are welcome... and keep up the good job guys! |
