|
|
Yo, guys.
I've been producing drum loops for years now. Sometimes when I want to add a verb to a loop, I'm having problems. I'm using Sony Sound Forge and some of its basic effects and some DX as well. You know, sometimes you just add a verb to a loop and it sounds okay, but some loops don't. Perhaps, it's the problem with the tools I'm using.
I'd like to know what you can do to a dry drum loop to make it sound like verby like this one "081_verby_snare_and_clap.aif", for instance. |

think small.
think small when you add the wet reverb to the dry drums......like real small.
decay tends to be real small along with "room size".
i didn't hear the break you were referring to but, when people say natural it tends to be small amounts of all the parameters on the reverb.
if this dotted line represents the reverb parameters on sound forge...
------------------------------------------------------------
_____^
*(excues the ___ before the arrow, i couldn't just hit the spacebar for the arrow placement)*
about where the arrow is, that's what i mean by small with the amount of each parameter.
if that helps :P
but obviously it is up to taste, so that not like the "writing in stone" spot to put things, but i could be a starting point _________________ "......kiff, inform the men, i've made it with a woman." |

| The loop I was referring to is very verby and sounds great. That's what I'm trying to do. You can find the loop here on SS. |

If you are looking to put reverb on drums, its always best to apply it lightly as you will muddy up the mix. Try using a gated reverb on drums and dont for get to tweak the EQ on the reverb, sometimes a reverb will only give you a low pass/High pass/Bass pass filter so id recommend you get one that lets you utilise both like Ambience http://magnus.smartelectronix.com/#effects
This is a great reverb plug in for PC & Mac, its very easy on th ecpu and sounds really good. Try it out, its free, you get a nag screen on it but thats it. No limitations or nothing, if you like it you can donate as much or as little as you want and you will get a nag free version. You dont have to if you dont want to because as soon as the nag screen comes up you just click close and it goes away! lol
Anyways like i said try it out and see if you like it or not, flick thru its great selection of presets too to see if you find one that suits or is close to the sound you are after. |
