|

I have just started dabbling in a little midi recording, however I seem to be having latency problems. It is fine when I am playing directly through a soft-synth, but once I try and play the same synth as an instrument in cubase, the latency becomes very noticeable (and difficult to play along with)
With the little research I have done it may well be to do with my sound card not supporting ASIO, but before forking out for a new one I was wondering if there is anything else I could do to reduce the lag??

What soundcard to you currently use?
If it is something to do with the ASIO drivers, then have a look under devices in Cubase, and then device set-up (I think thats what its called!), then have a look in VST multitrack, and check that its set to the ASIO driver of your soundcard.
Hope this helps. |

I'm currently using an old very cheap soundcard which I don't think supports ASIO....which I think is the problem! I have had a fiddle with my settings and have managed to get the latencty down a little, but it's still too much for recording....
I'm thinking of getting an M-Audio Delta 44 soundcard as I need some more imputs/outputs anyway. I know this supports ASIO and so hopefully it'll solve my latency problem too.... |

Cool, Ive heard some good things about the M-audio delta....and you can never have too many inputs!
Hope you get it all sorted, good luck :) |

| Well I recieved my M-Audio Delta 44 a while back.....problem solved! Now I have next to no latency (~12ms) and it is certainly not audible. The soundcard and m-audio software are both fantastic, very flexible and good quality. Thanks for the advice all, I can now join the M-Audio fan club! |
