When I'm tired, my songs sound like they need to be sped up. But, this doesn't happen when I'm wide awake.
A long time ago, I had a bit to drink and I played some songs on my MP3 player and they sounded like the tempo was on about 300bpm!!
Does this happen to anyone else? It's really weird! It must be something to do with the brain where it can't register the sound in time as it's playing or something? _________________ Getting back into fruity loops again. Sometimes i notice these little fluctuations, like the tempo is slowly decreasing by 1 or 2 bpm.
Maybe it's an audio illusion caused by layering certain sounds and beats.
Or maybe it's the herb.
Your tiredness explanation is interesting though. Kind of ties in with my herbal one.
However i tend to notice this only in certain tracks, so there must be some sort of audio weirdness going on. |

Its funny 'cause i haven't been able to get any dope for about 4 months (it's a bit dry round here) and i haven't noticed it happening, so yeah i guess it's a herb thing.
Or as Tozzy says, tiredness.
Man, am i looking forward to a spliff after 4 months... |

i see...:)
i had a band like 20 yeares ago, playing a kind of bodyelectric-gothic music and i still vividly remember the feeling when we entered the studio after two long months of waiting and with money for just 16 hours... i guess my pressure was as twice as normal and i was not the only one...:)... anyway, the point is that at the time. all matrix backgrounds we programmed in our already old atari comp just seemed so slow!!!... and all the basslines and guitar lines i had to play over seemed so simple to do... in a slow motion time and me being too aware!...:)... we were so high on adrenaline... |

weirdly enough, in one of first pieces i did with reason i had that problem... it was so obvious to me that the pace slows down a little always at the same point, when some of the rhythm elements all kick in togehther after a bass line break... though some people could hardly or not at all hear the difference, i felt it so much that i even reinstaled the reason thinking it must be the software problem... it did not help, the song still sounds the same...:)
and no, it's not the herb but it adds to the feeling...:) |

Wow, I'm glad it's not just me then! I thought I was going funny lol. Happens quite a lot in FL. Song first started off at 145bmp, then I put it to 148bmp, sounded perfect, then it had to be increased to 153bmp. Sometimes, it's too fast so I put it back to 148bmp. Never drink and drive and never stay up too late creating tracks in FL if you're too tired ;). Best to do it when you're wide awake :D.
Thanks for the responses by the way. Expected you guys telling me to stop smoking something lol!
By the way, this also happens to me with volume. I'm ALWAYS changing my system volume because one day it's too low or too loud, but usually always too low. Strange. _________________ Getting back into fruity loops again. I prefer to create music that is intense and dramatic. I'm also working on other styles. |

thats the magic of human hearing, its fatigue in the ears which is why in live sound engineers always never put the volume too high to start
with so when as the gig goes on they turn the volume up then know one knows the difference. voilla .. tune in next week when the lesson will be.. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |
