About This Track

This is my second dnb upload. Saying that I've worked hard on it is an understatement ;). Hope you like it & give me feedback please! (For those who use Windows media player , please turn off SRSWOW if you use it, it will ruin the sound! )

I like it but your drums arnt tuff enough dude try layering another kik n snar on top with good low end compression and take out all the high end above the snare.. this should make it sit better in the mix...!! peace joevirus www.myspace.com/joevirusdnb www.virus.com

Thanks a lot for the support! I guess you're right about the drums since you have a lot more experience with Dnb as i do, but I don't really get the whole compression thing. I already searched a lot for an explanation of how to use it for drum and bass , but I only find people who say you [i:7e2d7e42d1] have [/i:7e2d7e42d1] to use it :D Where did you learn it, or did you find it yourself ? Please help me if you can & thanks! Sorry for my english :)

well its hard to explain as i learned myself? i mainly go from ear refrence really, but try and start from a ratio of around 8-10 low attack and release mess around with the threshold untill theres no unwanted distortion. Hope this helps a little ?? im no pro myself dude :) peace jv

drum and bass compression's hard to get your head round, i tend to compress my drums about ratio 7, -12dB threshold for kicks and snares, eq out all the unwanted frequencies and boost the kick at about 120 Hz and the snare at around 200 (it also helps to find the click n the sample in the higher frequencys and boost it to make them more punchy). For high hats and percussion i find it easier not to follow any set rules (because you can pan them without them losing there effect) then paralell compress all the drums like jv said it helps to layer the samples, i find it works nicely layering a subby synthesised kick drum with an acoustic one, as the synth'd drum will give it that punch in the chest effect and the acoustic one will make it more punchy audiabley. hope it helps bless
