Give me beats, dammit!

Here’s a quick step-by-step primer (and 90 second video) to show you how to use SampleSwap to download free beats.

  1. Register for a free account, confirm your email address, and login.
  2. Explore the drum loops & breaks collection. The 2,500+ free loops in this section are mostly organized by BPM range. Note that each BPM range has many pages you can click on.
  3. Click the checkmark box next to any sound you like, and then click the “Add selected files to my basket” button.
  4. When your basket is full (or when you’re done finding samples) click the “Download Basket Now” button.
  5. The site will ZIP up your files into a nice well-organized folder and email you a download link.

Why does it take so long for newly uploaded samples to get folded into the live collection?

Because every sample is:

  • Verified to be interesting and non-sucky
  • Normalized
  • Samplerate / bit-depth converted to 16bit 44Khz
  • Edited to zero-crossings (no clicks!) and loops are trimmed to perfection
  • BPM calculated
  • Given a clever name and carefully copied into the appropriate collection

SampleSwap.org started off as a hotline server in 2000. Since then, over 100GB of samples were contributed in order to form the 6.5 GB collection you see here today.
